When Hermione slammed the door and stalked into the room Ron hid behind his newspaper.

She pushed his feet off of the coffee table and sat there, arms folded, until he admitted defeat and lowered his paper.

“What?” he said.

“I just had to remove Bat-Bogeys and Obliviate someone, Ron. Would you care to explain why there was a strange Muggle on our front lawn with Bat-Bogeys attacking him?”

“Well, you know the lovely family next door? With the gorgeous kids?” He looked slightly shifty.

Hermione raised her eyebrows. “And the mum you have a huge crush on?” she asked.

Ron blushed. “She’s, um, I... she... yeah. Well. Anyway. I was looking out of the front window and I saw him climb over their fence and steal the kids’ bikes and throw them in the back of his car and I had to do something, Hermione.”

“So you Bat-Bogeyed him?”

“Yeah. And...”

“And?”

“Accioed the bikes back...”

“And?”

“Well, the car was full of other stolen stuff – loads of wrapped presents.”

“Which are now?”

“Under the tree next door.”

“Oh Ron. I suppose you did some good. Though those presents belong...” She narrowed her eyes when she saw him smirking. “What else, Ronald?”

“Well, I may have slipped another gift in with all the mysterious ones from Santa.”

“Ron?”

“Just one of these..."
