Harry’s jaw clenched and he looked intently at the ceiling.
He loved his job, he really did, but being a member of a team of Aurors made you vulnerable in ways he hadn’t expected.
Not in imminent death situations; he trusted anyone in his team to save his life.
It was back in the department that things turned nasty.
“Can’t you just be grateful he saved your life, Finnigan?” Ron snapped, dumping a pile of paperwork on Seamus’s desk.
“Not when he scared me half to death, no,” Seamus said.
“You’d have been happy to walk straight into that trap, without warning, would you?”
“Leave it, Ron,” Harry muttered.
“He sent his Patronus in the nick of time,” Ron complained, “and all you can do is take the piss.”
“And can you blame me?” Seamus scoffed.
“Seamus…”
“No, Ron,” Harry interrupted. “Seamus knows that Patronuses can change after big emotional upheaval.”
“And it’s not your fault,” Ron complained.
“That doesn’t alter the fact that I was sneakin’ into the back of Borgin and Burke’s,” Seamus said, “and an effing great ghostly sperm warned me it was a trap!”
