Ron's Hands

Folded on your breast, moving gently with each sleeping breath.

Breathe.

For so many years, always so strong, so vital.

Breathe.

First holding a quill, then wielding your wand, then touching me.

Touching me.

Breathe.

So tentatively, at first, so young and so awkward.

My face, my breast.

Your beautiful hands.

Breathe.

Long freckled fingers.

Holding your child's hand.

Teaching them to fly, to soar.

Touching me.

Breathe.

So confident, so comforting, so familiar.

How grumpy you got when age spots outnumbered the freckles.

Holding a grandchild's hand.

Folded on your breast, moving gently with each sleeping breath.
