They neither know nor care about household spells, and it wouldn't occur to them to ask me.
Harry is still in hand me downs, although now they are Ron's old things; Ron has a few old things of Bill's and a few threadbare things he really has long grown out of.
It doesn't really matter, not here, where we huddle round a small fire in an abandoned building.
My own clothes are old and filthy; it would be stupid to buy new ones.
But I could offer to fix his jumper.
I know I should.
The cuff is unravelling, and he is winding the wool around his finger as he and Harry play chess.
I'd offer to fix the cuff, I really would.
But then I'd have to fix the other hole.
It's under his arm, and when he reaches forward, to stir the fire, I see creamy skin and red hair and I flush and not from the leaping flames.
I am supposed to be reading this book on Helga Hufflepuff, and I am watching out for glimpses of Ron's body hair, what is wrong with me?
Everyone has underarm hair.
What's so special about Ron?
Being a man.
He really is, isn't he?
He's tall and strong and brave and…
And he's noticed the other hole, and sighed, and put his hand under his armpit and made farting noises at Harry.
And sometimes he is just a boy.
